Jakarta Trials WFH for Non-Direct Service Employees and Distance Learning at Schools Around ASEAN Summit Location

Responding to the issue of air pollution and ahead of ASEAN Summit, the Jakarta Provincial Government will try out a Work From Home (WFH) system for state civil apparatuses (ASN) who do not provide direct services and implement distance learning for schools in the vicinity of ASEAN Summit location.

Jakarta Government is still trying to provide optimal service

The statement above was conveyed by Jakarta Communication, Informatic, and Statistic Agency (Diskominfotik) Acting Head, Sigit Wijatmoko, Thursday (8/17).

According to him, the WFH trial is carried out with a 50 percent attendance percentage taking effect from August 21 - October 21, 2023 for ASNs who perform staff or support functions.

However, it does not apply to services that are direct to the community, such as hospitals, health centers, Satpol PP, Fire and Rescue Agency, Transportation Agency, to urban village-level services.

"Jakarta Government is still trying to provide optimal service to the community. We ensure that the WFH does not impact public services and work is carried out as it should," he asserted.

He added the percentage of employees carrying out WFH and attendance at the office would also be adjusted during the ASEAN Summit taking place on September 4-7, 2023, with details of employees who are WFH as much as 75 percent and working from the office as much as 25 percent. This adjustment applies to government offices that are close to the location of the ASEAN Summit, such as the Office of Tourism Agency in Kuningan, South Jakarta.

Further, the distance learning system at schools located in the vicinity of ASEAN Summit location only applies when the event is held, namely on September 4-7, 2023. The system is implemented with a percentage of student attendance of 50 percent. However, for teachers and educators at the school, they are still present and active 100 percent.

"This system only applies when the ASEAN Summit takes place. Schools that apply this system are also only those located around the ASEAN Summit venues, such as in Thamrin, Sudirman, Tanah Abang, Kuningan, and Menteng areas. However, for schools that are far from the ASEAN Summit venue, such as in West and East Jakarta areas, they will continue to carry out normal activities with 100 percent admission," he explained.

After the ASEAN Summit takes place, schools around the ASEAN Summit venue could carry out learning as usual or 100 percent student attendance.
